Here goes.. .

My first ever blog post...

Considering my title for this blog is "Lord's Servant on EVE" I might as well introduce myself, and explain why the title is the way it is.

First of all, let me introduce myself, my name is NOT Lord's Servant, that is just my in-game character name for EVE. EVE is an online game with many players and I consider it to be the best one out there (yes even better than WOW).

EvE-Online (EVE for short) is an MMORPG(Massively Multiplayer Online Roleplaying Game, not Massively MOnsterific Rocket Propelled Grenade :P). It is a game based on a virtual space universe. Players are people who subscribe to the game (paying $15/month) and you can do pretty much whatever you want. The game has a freeform ultra-capitalist economy, and that is what makes it so unique from other games. Almost every single ship, weapon, bullet, missile, laser crystal, whatever, came from another player. This means that there were people who went to an asteroid belt and mined ore and then refined it into minerals. From there someone bought it and put it into a factory with a blueprint, and a couple minutes/hours/days/weeks later it came out finished, a brand new item. With this kind of system, it would be hard for anyone to make any money (ISK, InterStellar Kredits) if prices were set. EvE has that problem solved, anything you sell, YOU can set the price for, or if you want to sell it quick, there are sometimes buy orders (pretty much someone saying I want to buy this for this much ISK, instantly payable upon deliery). This can lead to several crazy situations, as EVE's economy is pretty much RL's (Real Life's) economy. Prices constantly fluctuate daily, and even hourly, and there are often people that are professional traders in game. These traders have been known to manipulate markets on massive scales, buying up everything of one item and selling them for a much higher price. Of course, there are counters for these, one such is the fact that EvE is sooooo huge that it is literally impossible to buy everything in it. When I said avirtual UNIVERSE, I meant a virtual UNIVERSE. We are talking literally HUNDREDs, maybe even THOUSANDS of Solar Systems with THOUSANDS of space stations orbitting HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of Planets. Are you getting how big this game is?

Now some of you might be thinking WOW. . . and some of you might be thinking wow. . .this game sounds like a stock market simulator. . . You couldnt be more wrong :) EvE has a MASSIVE focus on combat. Players can band together into corporations (guilds) that can declare war on people and thus can legally shoot them in "safe" space (EVE is divided into security status systems, more later). Additionally, if you're REALLY serious about this game, multiple corporations can band together into humongous alliances (superguilds). About 50% or more of EVE's universe is comprised of 0.0 security status systems, which means that there is no law; players make the law! Alliances can setup POS's (Player Owned Stations) and gain soveregnty of a solar system, and maybe an entire CONSTELLATION! This gives tons of defensive bonuses, and tons of other cool advantages. However, you'll need those defensive bonuses as there are always other bloodthirsty alliances out there who want to take your space for their own. I am in a corporation that is the leader of an alliance called SEIZE, so you get the idea of how ruthless people can get in this game ;) I might explain more about the game later, but for now Id like to start with some of my opinions, ideas, and news about myself in EvE.

Recently my alliance got rolled (blitzkrieg attack that forced us out of our space). We were pretty much alone against 5 other alliances: Firmus Ixion (FIX) Chaos (CHAOS) Atlas Alliance (ATLAS) SMASH Alliance (SMASH) and Roadkill (I forget their ticker). We held on for about a week or so, but they eventually forced us out due to superior numbers and a traitor within one of our corps(corp is short for corporation). We currently reside within IRC space (IntRepid Crossing). They are another alliance which is very friendly to us, and they are letting us rebuild and retool our war machine. Soon we will retake our space and continue building our power!

That's all for now,

-Lord's Servant, CyberDyne Industries, SEIZE Alliance
